Six hours on the road isn’t just waiting. The Chernivtsi — Chisinau route (450 km) passes through some of the most beautiful corners of Bukovina and Moldova. Here’s what you’ll see from your NextAirBus window.
First hour: Bukovina
We leave Chernivtsi towards Khotyn. Rolling hills, sunflower fields in summer, orchards. At 60 km — Khotyn with its medieval fortress on the Dniester. We usually don’t stop, but the view is stunning.
Border: Porubne–Mamaliiga
We cross at Porubne (Ukraine) — Mamaliiga (Moldova). The Moldovan side surprises with rural simplicity. The village of Mamaliiga feels like another world.
Moldova: vineyards and plains
After the border — flat fields and vineyards. Moldova is wine country, visible from the road: rows of vines stretching to the horizon. Autumn landscapes are especially picturesque.
Soroca: town on the Dniester
About 2.5 hours past the border we pass Soroca — a 15th–16th century fortress on the Dniester bank. On request we can stop for 20–30 minutes.
Final stretch: Chisinau
The last 100 km — fields and small Moldovan towns. Chisinau greets you with wide boulevards and a contrast of Soviet architecture and modern cafés.
