Chisinau for tourists: what to see in 1–2 days

Where to go in Chisinau: wine, monasteries, Stefan cel Mare Boulevard, and Moldovan cuisine. A guide for visitors from Chernivtsi.

Chisinau is a city many travellers underestimate. Spend at least a day here and you’ll discover Moldova’s green capital has real character. From Chernivtsi it’s an easy trip — 450 km, 6 hours with NextAirBus.

Day 1: City centre

Stefan cel Mare Boulevard — the main artery. Government buildings, the Presidential Palace, the university, and excellent cafés.

National Art Museum — Moldovan and European painting from the 17th–20th centuries. Address: str. 31 August 1989, 115.

Wine tastings

Moldova is one of the world’s largest wine producers. In Chisinau: Cricova (underground city!) and Milestii Mici (Guinness record holder). Book ahead.

Day 2: Beyond the centre

  • 🕌 Căpriana Monastery — medieval monastery in the suburbs
  • 🌊 Soroca and Edineț — medieval fortress on the Dniester
  • 🍷 Vineyards along the route from Porubne–Mamaliiga

  • Tucano Coffee — the city’s favourite café
